Volunteers Week 2023 Get Involved image

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event, now entering its 39th year. Volunteers' Week sees charities, voluntary groups,  organisations, and volunteers themselves come together to recognise the incredible impact that volunteering has in communities around the UK.

The theme for this year – ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ – aims to highlight that our diversity is our strength, show that there is more than one way to volunteer and encourage people to be the change that we want to see. Volunteers are always active at the heart of every UK community, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate and recognise their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.

Volunteering Matters

While I provide the Hounslow Allies service for children in care with Hounslow, some children are places outside the Borough in the Bromley and Bexley areas. Over the past year, I have recruited several volunteers willing to travel significant distances to befriend children in Foster Care. They are truly fantastic and are making a huge difference to the lives of the young people they befriend."
